Writer's block

Okay, holidays are over, back to work.....

Where am I on my story? Well, I have no idea....it just ran away from me and now I am searching high and low trying to find it. I have all the characters all screwed up, the plot sucks, and my head hurts.

Thank Goodness for Christmas!! It was a nice break, but now I need to put this story back together!! Sheesh............

I just can't get my head straight!! I write, sit back and look at it, then throw it away........ What am I doing wrong?? I have my characters, I have my plot, but I can't put it all together. One big problem I have is the start of the story. I am pretty sure I can get rolling if I could get pass this one obstacle!! Should I start with the main character or begin with someone else??

Oh well, hopefully, I will figure it out soon......

Okay, it's been awhile since I posted anything at all. But I have been struggling with my writing abilities that doesn't seem to exist!! I will write maybe two paragraphs and get so discouraged that I just delete whatever I have written. I sent an example of my work to a good friend of mine and the reply was..."Hey, not bad...can't wait to see more..." and that was IT!! I don't know, I guess I was expecting something like..."Damn good writing there, kiddo!! Keep up the good work!! WOOO HOOO!!". The reply from my friend told me that I needed to change and try something different and, believe me, I have been trying. I guess I will continue and hopefully come up with something before I start receiving social security..........

My fingers started moving the other day. I have all my characters all lined up and have their scripts ready.......time to start rolling the camera.

Well, I planned to write some more yesterday. I got my hot cup of Earl Grey tea with cream and suger (that's the way I love it), adjusted my chair, dusted off my desk, set the keyboard just right, and stared at the screen for 30 minutes. My mind was a total blank.............

My oldest son walked over to me and asked what I was suppose to be doing. "I'm working on my story." I answered. He leaned over, looked at the screen, and said, "It may help to start typing something." I sighed, "Yea, it just might."

I will try again today...............

The edit bug

Okay, I just realized that my biggest problem is, trying to edit as I go. Not working. I have been told to write whatever comes to my mind on a notebook, then type it, and worry about editing later. So, today, I have a notepad and pencil and will write down ideas as they come, write it in my notebook (rough draft), then type it out.

I created this blog to tell my story of writing (or trying to) my first book. I have been working on one since 1991 and have only made it to chapter 9.
My biggest problem is that I can sit with pen and paper for hours and maybe write two paragraphs. I think this is called, "writer's block" (hince, the name of the blog).
How do I get through it? I have no problem finding time to write and I know what my story is about and what happens all the way to the end. But writing it step by step is not easy.

So, through out this blog, I will be telling my story about writing my story.

Now...........here we go.
